How can I get into the program?

Whether you are inquiring for yourself, a friend, or a family member, we hope we can be of assistance. You may fill out the form below and you will receive an email with an example Admissions Form. You may review this form to better understand our requirements.

While this is not required, you may also print out and pre-fill the form. You or your loved one may bring it to us between the hours of 9am-11am, Monday through Friday for an interview. No appointment necessary. No applications will be accepted the last and first working day of each month and all holidays.

1. A desire to stop drinking/using and a willingness to learn how to live clean and sober successfully.
2. A personal interview with the staff.
3. 72 hours clean and sober before applying.

For Veterans

Veterans have a special place at Heartland House – generally, over 40% of our residents are veterans. We are one of only two recovery homes in San Diego County that are contracted by the Veterans Administration (VA) to receive referrals. We have solid, established relationships with the VA staff and its medical and counseling programs. Over 60% of our veteran residents have a disability. Our staff will work with you and the VA staff to assist you in getting to outpatient appointments and special therapy for physical therapy, PTSD, Combat Veteran groups, and other service-related matters.

To enter Heartland House

Make an appointment at the VA. Depending on your condition, you may first be admitted to their detox program. If approved by the VA to enter residential treatment, you can request to be placed at Heartland House. The VA and Heartland House staff will handle processing your referral.
